A GLANCE IN THE FUTURE

Suddenly, a blue flash of light passed through my eyes. I looked around trying to focus. Slowly the picture started to emerge. Walls covered me, there was a bed on the right side and window on the left. I realised I was standing in my own bedroom. But what had happened? How did I get here? These were the questions that came to my mind. A noise came from downstairs so I started to walk towards the door. I got the shock of my life when I saw what was in front of me. It was … my replica … another me! I screamed but she didn’t seem to hear me. Standing in the corridor staring at me, her clothes were a little torn – eyes red and frustrated like she hadn’t slept for days. She was looking in the direction of my bedroom, I mean hers so I tried to touch her, but soon she started to march forward. We were about to collide but instead she passed through me. Was that a ghost? Right after that my eyes opened. I found myself sitting in my school chair. Did I fall asleep? Was it a dream? Two days passed and I kept thinking about that dream. Was it some sort of prediction of what was going to happen in future? I thought something bad was going to happen considering the torn clothes I was wearing. Many days passed; I couldn’t sleep at night. One night I got up and went outside my room and started chewing my shirt in frustration. After ripping my shirt, I stared at the door, realising I was unnecessarily trying to look at the future because of my dream. I was trying to visualise something that was not foreseen. And that was the ease to my frustration. I learnt the lesson that one should never worry too much about what will happen in future. The future is in the hands of Allah and He knows what is best for us.
