LOCKDOWN

Never did I ever thought that there could exist an organism so small that it cannot be seen with a human eye yet so strong that it has the power to shut down the whole world and threaten the lives of all the people who dare to step out of their homes. They always say, it gets worse before it gets better. Isn’t this already bad enough. Thousands of people have lost their lives due to Covid-19. Hundreds of thousands of people are in its grasp and yet it shows no mercy. It is a predator which has no predator of its own. 1,360,039 people are infected with Corona and 75,973 people have died. Speaking and thinking of it, feels like comparing it with a movie. How suddenly something shows up and threatens the life of all on earth except in movies, there are always heroes to do something about it. This time there is no hero. It is a war that the whole world must fight together. Lockdown is necessary. It is hard but there is nothing you can do in this war but staying at your house. This is a war that must be fought without weapons. Everyone dreams of being a hero, warrior and soldier to do something good to serve their country. Now that chance is being given to us. We can stay home and protect the life of our family, friends, and most importantly we can protect our own life. This is truly a difficult time but there is no use in panicking. It will do us no good. We need to face this situation calmly. Ever since the news of Covid-19 reaching Pakistan has been confirmed, not once have I been outside my house, the maximum open air that I have gotten, is from sitting on the terrace. Life took a very unexpected turn for everyone. Every night, my parents and I would go for a long stroll through the streets, visit my aunts and uncles every weekend, enjoy sunlight while exploring new parks and going for long drives, now we are stuck inside our house, unable to leave the house and walk the streets that threaten to take our lives. Never thought, I would ever hear myself and all other students stuck in their houses say this, but this change has made us school sick. This was unexpected. Schools have been closed but not the studies. Technological advancements have allowed us to sit at home and still attend online classes. Upon times like this, I turn to Dumbledore who once said even if in a novel, “Dark and difficult times lie ahead. Soon we must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy.” These are dark times, there is no denying but we must make the choice to either do something right and stay inside our houses or do what is easy, carry on with our normal choices. We all should choose the option to stay at our homes and it is our duty to choose. I do believe these are dark times but once again turning to Dumbledore gives me hope. There will come a light that will take this darkness away from our lives, we just need to be patient and pray to Allah to show us the light that will conquer this darkness.
